After the sintering is completed, post-processing will be carried out according to the characteristics of the parts. Many materials can be used without post-processing after they are processed by powder metallurgy technology. Post-processing of powder metallurgy is to improve and perfect the performance or appearance of parts. Post-processing of powder metallurgy can prevent the processed parts from rusting, improve the wear resistance and accuracy of the parts, etc. So what does the post-processing of powder metallurgy do?
One: Powder metallurgy post-treatment method
Method 1: Improve the accuracy of processed parts
Usually, the sintered parts are put into a shaping mold with a similar structure to the pressing mold, and the pressing process is performed again on the press. This post-processing method can improve the dimensional accuracy of the processed parts and reduce the surface roughness of the parts.
Method 2: Treat the parts with oil penetration
Put the sintered powder metallurgy machined parts into hot oil at 100-200℃ or make the oil penetrate into the pores of the powder machined parts under vacuum. This post-processing method can prevent the parts from rusting and improve the wear resistance.
Method 3: Improve the wear resistance of parts
Iron-based powder metallurgy parts are treated in 500-600℃ water vapor to form a hard and dense oxide film on the inner and outer surfaces of the parts. This method can improve the wear resistance of the parts after powder metallurgy processing, and can also prevent the parts from rusting.
